There are important elections for Buckinghamshire Council on Thursday 1 May. We are delighted that we will be contesting all the seats in the Beaconsfield constituency.
Buckinghamshire Council has been run by the Conservatives ever since it was created. And it shows. Our roads and pavements are in a shocking state of disrepair, there is too much litter and fly-tipping, our schools are struggling, there is poor support for special educational needs and our social care system is creaking. Young people increasingly find it difficult to rent and buy houses in our area. All this is because of years of austerity, neglect and poor management by the Conservatives. We believe it is time for a change to give our local communities better services and a better future.
If elected, your local Labour councillors will prioritise the issues that matter most to you, listen to your concerns and ensure they are acted upon. In particular, they will ensure that our local communities get their fair share of the £1.6 billion extra money that the Labour Government has made available to fix potholes and improve our roads. They will work to ensure that all our children get access to high quality primary and secondary education and that there is the right level of special education needs support. They will campaign for developments that are sensitive to the local area and that support affordable and social housing.
